Mini Boards Reviews for the National + Local Anesthesia Dental Hygiene Boards
Answer: (A.) Linear
Piezoelectric scaler uses ceramic discs or quartz plates to convert
electricity to movement. The tip moves in a linear pattern (front and
back) with the two sides of the tip move at 25,000 to 50,000 cycles/sec
(cps). The tip moves in an elliptical motion, at 18,000 to 45,000 cycles/sec (cps), with all parts of the tip active.
